“What is Sisterhood? I never really understood what it was or what it meant. I originally thought it was making new friends, but boy was I off. There is so much more to Sisterhood! Alpha Phi Gamma National Sorority, Inc. has taught me what it really means to care for someone. TO love someone unconditionally. To feel like you belong. I would not be where I am today without the help from my Sisters. When I struggled with my academics, Sisters helped me keep track of my assignments and exams, they offered to be my study buddy. When I was doubting my leadership skills, they gave me opportunities to take the lead on some event planning and pushed me to speak up to voice my opinion. When I was feeling at my lowest, my Sisters checked up on me, took me out to see the positive things in life, made jokes, brought me food, and so much more. When I was afraid of showing my goofy and quirky self, they consistently told me to be myself and not fear being judged or rejected. Never would I have ever seen myself take on Internal Vice President for my Chapter and External Vice President for the Multicultural Greek Council. I am forever grateful to have such a huge support system that will help me grow and I can help others grow personally and professionally. I can honestly say that I am a proud Sister of Alpha Phi Gamma.”

As an only child in my family, I never had the opportunity to be around people who are my age. I've always wondered what my life would look like If i do have siblings. So when I first came to college, I tried to make friends and meet new people, and I joined so many clubs. However, I never felt I really fit in or belong there. So my second year, I got a chance to meet a few ladies from APhiG and decided to go to recruitment, and now I have so many Sisters nationwide. Being a Sister of APhiG helps me to understand who I really am. I know my strengths and weaknesses, and I know how to use and handle them. There is always room for me to improve and I'm more than ok with being imperfect. Because we are not perfect, it makes each of us so unique and special in our own way.

I like to joke around when I say "I didn't choose APhiG, APhiG chose me". But in reality, it really felt like the Sisters of Alpha Phi Gamma found me. When I came to DePaul, I knew I wanted to learn more about my Asian-American culture as well as find a solid group of friends. I joined DePaul's Asian Cultural Exchange, where I met two of the Sisters of APhiG. They were so kind to me, and it really felt like they wanted to get to know me as a person and a friend. When I learned more about Alpha Phi Gamma, I instantly knew I wanted to join this unique Sisterhood. Ever since I made this decision, I never looked back. When I think about it, I definitely feel like I found an organization that fits me so well, which makes me very happy.

I joined Alpha Phi Gamma because when I met my Sisters I saw a family. I hadn't realized how much I wanted sisters until I started spending time with everyone here. I wanted to break out of my shell, and leave my house, and work on things that change me and others for the better. Alpha Phi Gamma was the best plausible way I could've done that, and I'll never regret taking the chance to join this organization. Through APhiG I've became a person I can be proud of and I've accomplished more than I Would've thought possible. I knew when I graduated high school that I wanted to change my life and be a happier person, but after 2 years of college, I still hadn't achieved that goal. APhiG was a big part of the reason that I was able to do that at all. In fact, APhiG was a big part of the reason I've been able to acconplish most of the things I'm proud of while I'm at DePaul, and that's why I love our Sisterhood.
